The fall is one of my favorite seasons. What's not to like? – Football season starts (go Pack!), pumpkin spice is at coffee shops and the deadly heat makes way for that wonderful cooled off season. At Star City Church we now have another reason to enjoy the fall: it will always be known as the time we launched our first home group! We have been meeting for the last three weeks. Our group meets every Monday evening where we have coffee and a sweet snack, spend time in fellowship, and read and talk about scripture together. Right now our group is reading through the book of Luke. In the last few weeks we have an average of 5+ people. For most who come, this is their very first home group/bible study. Please continue to pray for the growth of the group not only in numbers but more importantly for spiritual growth.
As my internship is gaining full speed at Riverbend Community Church, Grace and I will be observing and serving in each ministry at the church. The first one we started this past Sunday in "Foundations" which is the children's ministry. As most of you know, I have much more experience in youth, college, and adult ministry so I believe this will be a good time for me to be more equipped and challenged, and experience my own growth in the Faith.
To everyone who has been praying and financially supporting us: your gifts and prayers have been appreciated and effective! In this month we were able to start our home group, supply snacks each week and even purchase a fire pit for the group (and supplies for s'mores of course). Without your giving and prayers, none of this relationship building and discipleship would be possible! Thank you so much!
In less than a month I will be in South Carolina for an update trip and will be ordained at Lakeview Baptist Church. Grace and I are excited to see everyone who has been supporting us, but for me I am also a little nervous as this seems to make it even more official that I am a missionary asking for support and updating those already supporting us.
In that, I wanted to share with you something that God has placed on Grace and I's heart. As many of you know, we have been staying with Grace's parents. They have generously allowed us to use their basement as a bedroom and their sunroom as a living room where we can host our home group. They have also provided for many meals and some of our basic needs. Their gift and sacrifice and our own challenge and calling to be dependent in this season has been a
blessing. Even still we feel God calling us forward to have a place of our own in the next year for His use. So in our update trip, we are hoping to increase our current support from $1300/month to $2500/month as the cost of living is high here. This number can seem overwhelming, but we know God is in control of all things. If He is calling us to find our own place, He will provide the way. What I would ask is for you to pray – not for an individual to give $2500/month, but that through our partner update trip we would see our global church – both the churches and members – come together to join in this ministry. Every person who commits to a monthly gift helps, whether it's $10 or $100, every single dollar is a gift to the kingdom! Thank you all so much for your continued prayers and support. It's a joy for us to be serving alongside you on this mission.
Thank you for fighting the good fight alongside us in prayer!
Please thank Him with us that:
we were able to launch our first home group
we have a loving, supportive host church
He is faithful in supplying a stream of constant peace, even in uncertainty
The marriage He has given us is a blessing and a strengthening gift
Travis has support and encouragement from those he works with at Riverbend
Please ask our Father:
to guide us in our upcoming support trip
that He will supply a second job for Grace that connects us to the community and provides for some financial needs
for discernment and wisdom for a growth opportunity in Travis's job at Starbucks
that Grace will start to receive support and encouragement through an upcoming "Women in Ministry" group
to continue to strengthen our marriage and deepen our individual walks with Christ
